If you can’t make it to the World Series of Poker in Vegas you can still get in on the action without having to leave the comforts of your own home. To be held during the same time period as the WSOP in Vegas, Bodog Poker’s Mini-SOP online poker tournament will only cost you about 1 percent of the actual buy-in of the WSOP Event.

“We’re happy to offer those not able to attend the 2008 WSOP in person an affordable and exciting online alternative,” says Alwyn Morris, CEO of the Morris Mohawk Gaming Group, which runs Bodog in North America. “For only one percent of the standard WSOP Main Event buy-in cost, Bodog online poker players can have a shot at the Mini-SOP crown and three $12,000 prize packages including entry into the 2009 WSOP Main Event.”

The Bodog Poker Mini-SOP starts on May 30th through July 3rd, with the top 27 players (on the tournament leaderboard) competing in the final event to be held on July 10th. The top 3 finishers at the final event will each be awarded a $12,000 prize package to the 2009 WSOP Main Event. Places four through nine will receive $109 to buy into online poker tournaments in the Bodog Poker room.

Casino Copenhagen

This just in…a great opportunity for all you poker aficionados who are itching to get in on another big tournament: Bodog Poker has announced in a press release that they’re sending four poker players to Copenhagen:

Qualifiers have just started and players are being offered the chance to win a seat at the EPT Scandinavian Open for as little as $1 USD. Four semi-final winners will receive a $10k buy-in for the EPT and an additional $2k USD for travel and accommodation.

“Bodog’s presence in the U.K. grows bigger by the day and offering up tickets to an EPT event is just another way in which we hope to further cement our position in the U.K.” said Calvin Ayre, Founder of Bodog Entertainment. “Poker is a lifestyle, and this is another chance for Bodog’s European players to get a real taste of the highlife. We’ll be taking Bodog players to Europe’s oldest kingdom to compete with the elite of European poker, and we’re confident that they’ll match the success of our previous buy-in winners.”

Earlier this year, Bodog WSOPE qualifier Matt McCullough finished third in the Inaugural WSOP Europe Main Event, taking home £381,910 ($550,000+). He also knocked out 11 time WSOP bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth and Scandinavian Gus Hansen in the process.

For a chance to win a seat to the EPT Scandinavian Open, players must register at Bodog Poker and play in tournaments titled “EPT-Scandinavian” under the “Daily” and “Special” tabs of the Bodog poker software. Qualifiers run daily and semi-final tournaments will run every second week starting Sunday, Dec. 16 at 8:15 p.m. GMT.

Whether you classify an event as a late-night poker tournament all depends on where you live and log-on. European players, for example, have all the North American daytime tournaments occurring at night. If you’re in North America though, here are my Top 5 late-night tourneys. (All these times are EST.)

1. PokerStars has its $20,000 guaranteed no-limit holdem tournament every night at 1:00 am. The buy-in is $109.

2. Full Tilt Poker has a nightly $12,000 event starting at 3:00 am. Buy-in is $109 and the game is no-limit holdem.

3. Bodog Poker has a $10,000 event starting just past midnight at 12:15 am. The buy-in for the no-limit holdem tournament is an inexpensive $55.

4. Hollywood Poker’s $108 buy-in late night event is at 4:00 am. It usually is only guaranteed for $4000, but can be much bigger.

5. PokerRoom also has a nightly $3000 no-limit holdem tournament at 5:00 am for $54, if you’re still going that early.
